1928 – 2015
CONCORD, N.H. — Laura Rita Siletti Hale died Monday, April 20, in Concord, N.H., after a period of declining health. She was 87 years old.
She was born on March 17, 1928, in Teaneck, N.J., to parents Aldo Charles Siletti and Helen Boylan Siletti. The family moved to Lisbon in 1936, where she attended Lisbon schools and graduated from Lisbon High School in 1945.
She trained as a beautician and opened her own shop in Lisbon Falls in 1956. Laura married David F. Hale of Lisbon Falls on June 12, 1954, and they lived in Lisbon Falls until 2008, when they moved to Havenwood-Heritage Heights in Concord, N.H.
Laura was a communicant at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where she also taught CCD. She was a leader of Brownie and Cub Scout groups and co-managed the concessions for the Lisbon Junior Athletic League when her three children were young. She later volunteered with the Lisbon Area Christian Outreach Food Pantry and Clothing Bank.
She worked part time at the Lisbon Falls Community Library, and later reopened her beauty shop in 1981.
Laura was skilled at many crafts, including sewing, needlework, macramé, basket-making and braiding rugs. She was an excellent cook and gardener. Her favorite pastimes included tennis, vacations in Rangeley, travel and reading.
Laura is survived by her husband, David of Concord, N.H.; her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Hale and Richard Uchida of Bow, N.H.; son and daughter-in-law, David and Cynthia Hale of Hartland, Vt.; daughter and son-in-law, Maggie Hale and Stephen Chapman of Arlington, Mass.; her brother, Charles Siletti and his wife, Arlene of Owl’s Head; grandchildren, Derrick and Julia Uchida, and Cal and Silvia Hale; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Jean Caron.
