LEWISTON — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Marcel L. Raymond was concelebrated by the Rev. Monsignor Marc Caron and the Rev. Aaron Damboise Monday, April 20, at the Basiica of Saints Peter and Paul, Prince of Peace Parish, following prayers and the reading of the story, “Freddy the Leaf” by Marcel’s sister, Therese Royer, at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home.

At the entrance of church, all of Marcel’s siblings draped their brother’s casket with a white burial pall, signifying Marcel’s baptism into a new spiritual life with God. The First Reading was from the Old Testament, proclaimed by Marcel’s niece, Jennifer Williams, and the Second Reading from the New Testament was proclaimed by his niece, Paula Knight. The Prayer of the Faithful was recited by nephew, John Raymond. The Offertory Gifts were brought to the altar by Kathy Chantal and Jennifer Williams. Words of remembrance were shared by Marcel’s niece, Chantel Royer Haig. The pallbearers were John, Paul, and Daniel Raymond as well as Roxanne Doyer, Kristina Royer-Patterson, and Rene Thibault.

Following funeral prayers at St. Peter’s Cemetery, the United States Air Force honor guard played Taps and presented our country’s flag to Marcel’s sister, Therese Royer. Before concluding services, a French poem was recited by Marcel’s brother-in-law, Roger Royer; and Marcel’s sister, Madeleine. His brother, Gerard, played a recording of Marcel’s French radio show, “Chez Marcel” as a final tribute.

Burial will be privately held at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery.

Arrangements by Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home of Lewiston.
