LISBON — The popularity of the Androscoggin River Trail is causing parking problems, the Town Council was told Tuesday night.

Chairman Dillon Pesce and other council members said the parking lot near the boat ramp was full over the weekend and people were parking on the road. Councilors said they will look at options for parking in that area so it doesn’t become a problem.

A public hearing for the municipal and school budgets is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, at Lisbon Community School. The council will vote on the budget May 12.

The council voted to accept wording for the school budget ballot going to the public Tuesday, June 9.

The council also voted to increase the duties of Recreation Director Mark Stevens to include those of parks director. Stevens will receive a pay increase for the additional duties.

Applications submitted for mobile home park renewals and an application for renewal of a liquor license for Angelo’s Pizzeria & Restaurant were also approved.

The Police Department will get a slightly larger sum from the Homeland Security Grant program because other towns are opting out, Town Manager Diane Barnes said. The total award is $8,011.42, not $7,873.84. The amount needed from the town’s forfeiture account, therefore, was reduced to $5,529.03 from the previously approved amount of $5,666.61.

Public Works is also receiving additional funds from the grant. It will get $2,850.00 instead of the previously approved amount of $2,722.14.

The council voted to accept the revised amounts and for the applications to be submitted to receive the money.

Barnes also informed the council that notices had been sent to taxpayers who owe for sewer usage.
