PARIS — A 19-year old Rumford man has been indicted on sexual assault charges following a January incident with a girl younger than 12. 

An Oxford County grand jury handed up the two-count  indictment of Dalton Pike of Cumberland Street following evidence submitted by officer Peter Casey of the Rumford Police Department.

According to the indictment, which was released Friday, Pike engaged in a sexual act with the girl on Jan. 3.

He faces Class A counts of gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual contract, each of which carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.
