FARMINGTON — Franklin Savings Bank has named Derek Hayes to the management team as director of commercial lending.

Hayes comes to Western Maine from Camden National Bank, where he was regional vice president for commercial lending in the 11-branch region of the greater Ellsworth market. He has a dozen years’ experience in commercial banking and has been a regional “team leader” for five years.

At Franklin Savings Bank, he will be responsible for managing the bank’s commercial lending activities and developing a strategy for growing the small business community in western and central Maine.

Hayes is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He is completing a professional certification in employee coaching.

An avid runner and outdoor enthusiast, he is relocating to Farmington with his wife and children. While in the Ellsworth area, he was active in the community and has volunteered with several organizations, including the Ellsworth Rotary Club, Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce, Down East Family YMCA, SCORE and Down East Health Services.
