Coach: Shane Slicer (13th year)
Conference: KVAC Class: A
Last year’s record: 12-6, lost in Class A East semifinals
Returning players: Seniors — Brady LaFrance (OF), Will Frank (P), Aiden Heikkinen (P/OF); Juniors — Matt Smith (C), Blake Slicer (P/OF).
Key losses: Nick Attaliades-Ryan, Matt Beauchesne, Nick Bowie, Riley Chickering, Walter Feeney, Ty Martin, Dalton Rice.
Promising newcomers: Senior — Chris Burns (IF/P); Juniors — Bailey West (OF/P), Jake Beauchesne (OF), Sam VanKirk (IF), Jake Spinhirn (IF), Tyler Curtis (1B).
Season outlook: The nucleus of a team has graduated, and the replacements are talented, but unproven. The late-arriving spring hasn’t helped Slicer in terms of evaluating players. Most of the infield positions are wide open, he said. The pitching staff hasn’t thrown a wealth of varsity innings. Many of the players were part of a successful run in Junior American Legion state tournament, and that experience should pay dividends. Oxford Hills expects to play its best ball at playoff time.
