FARMINGTON (AP) — The Maine Warden Service is offering a $500 reward for information that leads to the person tossing five-gallon buckets filled with dirty diapers in Franklin County streams.

The agency said on its Facebook page on Wednesday that so far more than 24 of the bright orange buckets have been recovered from streams in Wilton and Farmington within the past couple of months.

The $500 reward is for information leading to a summons and conviction in the littering case.

The buckets appear to have been purchased from The Home Depot.

Wardens say in addition to the waste, the diapers contain chemicals that could be harmful to fish and wildlife.

Wardens are asking that anyone with information contact them at 1-800-452-4664.
