1940 – 2015
AUBURN — Lucien ‘Vince’ Levasseur, 74, went to his heavenly reward Tuesday, April 14, at the Hospice House in Auburn, surrounded by his loving family after a brave and hard-fought six-year battle with cancer.
He was born April 17, 1940, in Lewiston, the son of Emile and Ella (Provencher) Levasseur. Vince attended schools in Lewiston and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served 18 months in Japan. He was a lifetime member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local No. 407 and served as president from 1984 to 1988.
Vince married Rose Fortier on Sept. 10, 1966, and settled in Lewiston after proudly building the family home, where his wife still resides.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Fernande Levasseur. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Rose Levasseur; his children, Angela (Andy) Woodhead, Lisa (Robert) Berlinger and Vincent (Ann-Marie) Levasseur; his grandchildren, Kelsey and Brittany Woodhead, Adam, Zachary and Joshua Levasseur, and Lucas and Olivia Berlinger; two brothers, Lionel Levasseur and Joseph Levasseur; two sisters, Bernie Holter and Joline Caron. Vince will be missed by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was a wonderful husband and an amazing father, father-in-law and pepere. He loved his family deeply and was always happiest when they were all around him.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Mahesh Pandey and the wonderful staff of nurses at St. Mary’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders for their devotion and support. Also heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Hospice House in Auburn for their caring and compassion.
