FARMINGTON — Franklin County commissioners will begin talks at noon Tuesday, April 21, on a preliminary $5.8 million budget for 2015-16. The figure includes $1.6 million to operate the jail.

The proposed requests exceed the current budget by $194,676. After factoring in anticipated revenue, the net preliminary assessment is $5.2 million.

On Tuesday, commissioners will review requests for adult education, Franklin County Soil & Water, Franklin County Extension, Western Maine Community Action and Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services.

Commissioners will take a break and resume review at 1:50 p.m. with Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, Threshold to Maine, Children Task Force and Tri-County Mental Health Services.

After a second break, talks will continue at 3:15 p.m. with SeniorsPlus, Greater Franklin Development and Western Maine Transportation.

At 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, commissioners will go over budgets for the district attorney, Emergency Management Agency, Firemen’s Association, deeds and probate. A break will ensue, followed by an 11:15 a.m. review of budgets for the Sheriff’s Office and treasurer. Commissioners will break for lunch at noon and will resume discussion at 1:15 p.m. on dispatch, insurance, commissioners, technical services and the courthouse.

Once commissioners approve a budget, it goes to the Budget Advisory Committee for review.
