RANGELEY — Three people from Androscoggin County are accused of stealing guns, cash, medical marijuana, two televisions and a Sony PlayStation 3 from a disabled man Saturday, police Chief Dennis Leahy said.

Danielle Nelson, 25, and Kevin O’Donnell, 25, both of Webster Road in Lisbon, and Steven Sharpley, 20, of Lewiston were charged with felony burglary and theft on Sunday, Leahy said. A conviction on the theft charge carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

The chief said Sgt. Jared Austin received a call at 11:30 p.m. Saturday from a Loon Lake Road resident reporting the missing items, including a large amount of medical marijuana stolen from a locked safe, and three rifles and a loaded .40-caliber handgun taken from the home.

The man told police he had kicked out Nelson, who had been living with him, and dropped her off Friday at Webster Road in Lisbon with her belongings, Leahy said. She called him later and told him he needed to return the rest of her stuff and to meet her at the Auburn Mall in Auburn on Saturday, Leahy said.

The man went to the mall but Nelson was not there. He contacted her and she said she couldn’t get there at that time but to wait for her, Leahy said.

Nelson had keys to the man’s property and knew where the guns, cash and marijuana were kept, Leahy said.

When the man discovered the burglary after returning home, he contacted police.

The victim had a cellphone contact number that turned out to belong to O’Donnell, so Austin and Leahy contacted Androscoggin County dispatchers and the cellphone was tracked to Motel 6 in Lewiston, Leahy said.

Rangeley police contacted the Lewiston Police Department, who were familiar with the couple. Officers went to the motel and found Nelson and O’Donnell.

O’Donnell had arrest warrants from Androscoggin County and Kennebec County, Leahy said.

All of the stolen items were found at the motel, a residence on Webster Road in Lisbon, and a residence on Rideout Avenue in Lewiston.

Austin and Leahy went to the Lewiston Police Department and interviewed Nelson, who confessed, Leahy said. Nelson gave them the name of Steven Sharpley, 20, of Lewiston, who was at an apartment in Lewiston but stored the guns at his mother’s house, Leahy said.

O’Donnell is being held on the warrants and Nelson on a probation hold at Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn, according to a corrections officer Tuesday.

Sharpley was released from the Lewiston Police Department after being interviewed, Leahy said.
