Geneology Society to host spring meeting

AUBURN — The Maine Franco-American Genealogy Society will be holding its Spring Meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Auburn Public Library, on the corner of Court and Spring streets.

After our business meeting, guest speaker John Manoush will make a presentation on the “History of Food Preservation Methods.” His presentation will begin around 11 a.m. The public is welcome to attend this free presentation.

The MFGS library is located at 217 Turner St., Auburn on the second floor above the Fortin Group Funeral Home, and it will open following the meeting.

Chicken BBQ Dinner

DURHAM — The First Congregational Church of Durham will hold a chicken barbecue dinner from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, at the Church, 773 Royalsborough Road, Durham.

The charge will be $9 for people older than 12, $3 for children ages 6 to 12 and kids 5 years or younger will eat free.

Spring fling Craft and Vendor Fair

LEWISTON — Spring Fling Craft and Vendor Fair will take place form 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, at the Ramada Inn, Lewiston.

More than 50 crafters and vendors will present. Proceeds will benefit the Trinity Soup Kitchen. Guests may bring a non-perishable food item to Stuff the Truck. Cash donations are also gratefully accepted. 

SeniorsPlus to host caregiver training

LEWISTON — SeniorsPlus Education Center will offer Savvy Caregiver 1 training scheduled in Androscoggin county.

The event will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursdays, April 30 to June 4, at the SeniorsPlus Education Center, 8 Falcon Road

This training will teach participants who care for a family member with dementia ways to reduce their stress and how to communicate more easily with the loved one.

This free workshop will will last six weeks with two-hour sessions. Pre-registration is required.
