1947 – 2015
AUBURN — Barry William Greindl, 67, of Hartford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, at the Androscoggin Hospice House, with his family by his side.
He was born May 3, 1947, to William and Evelynn Greindl in Rome, N.Y.
Barry was a motorcycle enthusiast, and he enjoyed riding motorcycles and building and working on vintage motorcycles with his son, Dana, in their shop, Cycle Therapy.
He was a hunter and fisherman, and he also loved to tinker on just about anything.
He enjoyed gardening with his wife, Gail, at their home in Hartford. He cherished playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved to tell a good joke or story. He very much enjoyed blues music and would often play along on his harmonica.
Barry was a veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Bath Iron Works after working there for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Vallee Greindl; son, Dana Greindl and his wife,, Nancy; stepchildren, Ben Vallee and wife, Rene, Jason Vallee and wife, Meaghan, and Michelle Vallee; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; siblings, John Greindl, Tamara O’Donnell, Robin Greindl and Laurel Rhinehart; and
several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by brother, Billy Greindl; mother, Evelynn Greindl; and father, William Greindl.
The family wishes to thank Tammy and Mary, Barry’s hospice home care nurses, for their care, warmth and compassion and the staff at the Androscoggin Hospice House for making Barry’s last days comfortable.
