AUGUSTA (AP) — The Maine Conservation Corps is looking for new members for its Field Team and Environmental Steward Programs to help construct and improve recreational trails.
The corps is part of the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry’s Bureau of Parks and Lands. Its field teams help build trails in mountains, along the coast and elsewhere in the state. The corps’ goals include accomplishing conservation projects and providing conservation education.
Field teams are groups of three to six members that help construct the trails. Environmental stewards plan conservation projects and develop and train a base of community volunteers. The deadline to apply is Monday. Work starts in May.
