PARIS — Police said a West Paris man who pleaded guilty last November to choking his then-girlfriend was charged Monday with sexually assaulting a juvenile girl.
Richard Ryan Hunt, 20, was arrested by the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office on Monday night at his residence and charged with gross sexual assault, a Class A crime carrying a maximum of 30 years in prison.
According to Oxford County Sheriff’s Lt. Brian Landis, Hunt assaulted the girl, who was under the age of 18, between Saturday night and Sunday morning. The girl reported the incident to police.
Hunt is on probation for four years after pleading guilty to aggravated and domestic violence assault last November for choking his then-girlfriend.
In June 2014, Hunt was arrested while his case was pending for returning to the woman’s home, according to court documents.
In a plea deal with prosecutors, he was sentenced to four years in prison, with all but 90 days suspended in exchange for a single count of gross sexual assault being dropped.
The conditions of his probation included no new criminal conduct. Bail for the most recent charge was denied. He is expected to make a court appearance on Wednesday.
