AUGUSTA — Police on Monday released the likely identity of a woman who plunged through ice on the Kennebec River over the weekend.

Deputy Police Chief Jared Mills said police believe the missing woman is Kelly Voytasko, 54, of Augusta.

Mills said Voytasko’s family reported her missing shortly after the incident.

“Based on the totality of the circumstances, there is a high probability that she is the person we are looking for,” Mills said.

Recovery efforts have been suspended due to conditions on the river. Efforts will resume once the river is safe to search.

Voytasko is still listed as an active missing person, and anyone who has information regarding the investigation is asked to call Officer Paul Doody at 626-2370.
