CHESTERVILLE — Residents at Monday’s town meeting will be asked to consider creating a Highway Committee, writing job descriptions for town employees and changing the 2016 meeting and election days.

The annual town meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, March 23, at the Town Office. Elections were held March 9.

Voters have 43 articles to consider.

Among them is Article 20 to see if the town will vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to change next year’s annual town meeting from Monday night to Saturday at 1 p.m. Voting would be held the preceding Thursday from 1 to 7 p.m.

Voters will also be asked to consider two citizen initiatives submitted by petition.

Article 44 asks voters if they want the town to create a Highway Committee that would include at least five members and possibly two alternates. The idea, according to the warrant article, is to try to find the most cost effective way of plowing and maintaining roads, to determine legal boundaries of all town roads, and any other aspect of town roads that would benefit the town.

In Article 45, voters will be asked to consider authorizing the municipal officers to create job descriptions for all town employees before the next fiscal year. The descriptions would be accepted by voters at the next annual town meeting.
