FARMINGTON — A New Sharon man faces charges after he was accused of putting a knife to a woman’s throat and choking her Sunday night, according to a police affidavit filed in a Farmington court.
Timothy Hutchinson, 29, was arrested Monday and appeared Wednesday in court on felony charges of aggravated assault and terrorizing with a dangerous weapon, and misdemeanor charges of domestic violence assault, criminal restraint, criminal mischief and terrorizing, according to court documents.
A conviction on the aggravated assault charge carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
The woman reported the incident Monday morning to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Colt Bernhardt wrote in his affidavit that the victim had “obvious defensive wounds on her arms” and had “scratches and bruising on her face and neck.”
Hutchinson posted $10,000 cash bail Wednesday and was released from Franklin County jail. Release conditions include not possessing any dangerous weapons, including firearms. He also cannot have contact with the victim and others listed with the court.
He is scheduled to appear in court April 30.
