DUV to install officers

NORWAY — The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861-1865 Hannah F. Richardson Tent 19, Stoneham, met Feb. 25 at the home of Kim Hansen for the first meeting of the new year.

Due to small attendance, installation will be held at the meeting on Wednesday, March 25, at the home of Marilyn Jones in Norway.

Potluck, concert at Grace Fellowship

OXFORD — Grace Fellowship Church of 29 Poplar St. will host an Easter potluck dinner and concert to raise money for the building fund, at 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 27.

The concert will feature Teresa Foye of Pittston, Julian and Pauline Blais of Lewiston and Phil McGee of Standish, to name a few.

Following the concert a drawing will be held to give away gift baskets. The cost for the evening is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.

‘Sensational Spring’ supper in Casco

CASCO — The Sensational Spring Saturday Night Supper will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at the Casco Village Church United Church of Christ, 941 Meadow Road (Route 121).

It’s a traditional “spring fling-out-the-winter-blues” supper with homemade baked beans, casseroles, crisp salads, rolls and butter, cold drinks, hot coffee and homemade pies. Cost is $8 adults, $5 children 8 and under and $21 max for families with young children.

After supper, shop for cool winter and sizzling spring specials in the “Wings ‘N Things” Clothing and Accessories Thrift Shop downstairs in the Disciples’ Den.

PARIS — A public corned beef supper, sponsored by Amvets Post 777, will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at VFW Post 9787, Lower Main St.

Longaberger bingo March 29

NORWAY — Responsible Pet Care will hold Longaberger bingo Sunday, March 29, at Norway Legion Hall, Main Street.

Doors open at 11 a.m. Bingo starts at 12:30 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for 16 games of regular bingo. There will be coverall games, raffle baskets, a 50/50 raffle and refreshments.

Tuba concert at West Paris Library

WEST PARIS — On Sunday, March 29, at 2 p.m. at the West Paris Library, the tuba ensemble, Low Commotion, will present a concert which is free and open to everyone.

Low Commotion, which was formed in 2013, is an ensemble of euphoniums (tenor tubas) and full-sized tubas. The ensemble has performed many concerts in the Portland area. The concert will feature music from jazz and rock to the classical.

Soloist for the concert is James Bennett, a West Paris resident, performing Gardell Simon’s classic cornet solo, “Atlantic Zephyrs” on the euphonium.

LEWISTON — SeniorsPlus is looking for volunteers in Oxford and Franklin Counties to serve in their communities as a Medicare Counselor.

If you like numbers, research and want to make a difference in people’s lives, this opportunity is for you.

SeniorsPlus needs volunteers to meet with Medicare beneficiaries one-on-one to assist in Medicare enrollment, changing plans and understanding the basics of Medicare; as well as speaking to groups to help educate them about Medicare basics.

Volunteers of all talents are needed to provide care and comfort for hospice patients and their families.

Male volunteers are needed, too, as well as veteran volunteers.

Hospice volunteering is not about a patient’s demise, it is about their living.

Free training starts April 1 at the RSU 73 Adult and Community Education Center, located at the old Livermore Falls High School Superintendents office, 9 Cedar St.
