AVON — Voters will elect six officers at the annual town meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 21, at the Municipal Building.

According to First Selectman Greta Espeaignnette, Second Selectman Jerry Gilchrist is not seeking another term.

Incumbent tax collector Mary Dunham, constable Bruce Dunham, Treasurer Maureen Haley, Road Commissioner Jerry Haines and school board director Paul Gardiner have said they’re willing to continue in their positions, Espeaignnette said.

Nominations will be taken from the floor at the start of the meeting.

The proposed municipal budget is up slightly from this year’s $211,000.

Selectmen noted that although they had carryover funds in the summer roads account, this year’s winter weather suggests the town needs to continue to add to that account to keep maintaining roads. One article asks voters to appropriate and raise money necessary for the repair of summer roads. Selectmen recommended using $35,000 from excise taxes, raising $15,000 and carrying over $40,740 from last year’s appropriations.

The warrant has 45 articles.
