We have been able to make sure Sumner’s families are getting a good variety of food items to meet their needs. While there have been many, many contributors of food, money and physical labor, I would like to especially thank a few specific people.

Christopher Dunn brought in a grocery bag of food on behalf of Cub Scout Pack 102 during worship on Boy Scout Sunday; Clay and Phyllis Schneider donated several large boxes of packaged foods—many of them in individual quantities for a household of one or two adults; Alex Hill gave us a much-needed freezer; and Lowell Lumber of Buckfield donated building materials to help us finish the interior walls.

Because of caring persons in our towns, our neighbors can be sure of receiving the food they need. My thanks go out to all. The Sumner Food Bank is open for Sumner residents on the first and third Mondays of each month from 9 a.m. to noon. It is located in the addition at the rear of the Congregational Church of East Sumner at 50 Main Street. The phone number is 207-388-2610. — Sincerely, Violet Enman, director of the Sumner Food Bank.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: You helped me last summer. I hope you can help me again. I was wondering why the Dunkin’ Donuts in the Walmart in Farmington was closed. And the Dunkin’ Donuts in the Big Apple in Wilton was closed, too. I hope you can help me. Thank you. — Stephanie in Jay.

ANSWER: Sun Spots first called Dunkin’ Donuts in the Wal-mart in Farmington and the phone rang without being answered. So Sun Spots called Wal-mart at 207-778-5344 and was transferred to the manager. He stated that the contract for DD to do business at Wal-mart had expired and not been renewed.

To answer the second part of your question, Suns Spots called the Big Apple in Wilton at 207-645-2760 and learned that the Dunkin’ Donuts that operates in its store was closed temporarily for one day. The entire store was closed due to an injury. DD in the Big Apple is still open for business.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I wrote to you in regards to snow on my deck (which was published on March 11). This morning (the same day the question appeared in Sun Spots asking for help to clear the snow from the deck) I had six calls! My deck is all cleaned. I wanted to tell you a BIG THANK YOU. Two brothers cleared the deck. They did a good job. Thanks again. — No Name in Lewiston.
