MEXICO — Among the incidents the Police Department recently responded to were:

* A report at 2:45 p.m. on March 8 of unknown youths damaging a railing at the Mexico Recreation Center beside the Police Department. Police Chief Roy Hodson said the youths damaged and broke a railing hook by shaking the railing. Police responded and caught two Mexico boys and referred the matter to Mexico Recreation Director Wayne Sevigny at his request, Hodsdon said. Sevigny said he would deal with it. “It’s got to be fixed,” Hodsdon said. “They ripped the studs right out of it.”

* On March 3, the Police Department received a report of a counterfeit $50 bill found by a school student at the Family Dollar store. “It definitely was fake,” Hodsdon said. “He claims he found it in the store after someone had dropped it.” He said he contacted the U.S. Secret Service, which deals with all counterfeit U.S. currency, and they asked for the serial number. Hodsdon said they track the serial numbers to get an idea where they are being used. The bogus $50 was sent to the federal agency.
