Stress reduction program starts March 12

FARMINGTON — Franklin Memorial Hospital has openings for its intensive nine-session stress reduction program that starts Thursday, March 12, and is designed to teach participants skills to reduce stress and improve overall health and happiness. Program instructors are Dr. Kathleen Hickey and physician assistant Tim Davis.

The course is consists of eight consecutive 2.5- to three-hour sessions and includes an all-day retreat on Saturday, April 25. Participants should be committed to performing one hour of daily practice and homework to learn and practice mindfulness meditation, Hatha yoga and body scan.

Passport Dinner to ‘visit’ Jordan

WILTON — Wilson Grange No. 321 will hold its next Passport Dinner at 6 p.m. Friday, March 13.

The dinner will feature as guest speaker Abdullah Al-Bostaji, a Mt. Blue exchange student from Jordan. He will talk about Jordanian customs and family life.

Cost for the meal is $12. Dinner will feature Jordanian food and will include: homos (hummus) with pita bread, meat beryani with vegetables on rice, yogurt with cucumbers, assorted condiments, laqum for dessert and tea with mint.

As always, reservations are needed.
