A Casco man was beaten nearly unconscious after a stranger forced his way into the man’s Timbuktu Drive home and punched him repeatedly, authorities said.
The assault was reported about 6:10 p.m. Sunday in a 911 call to Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department.
The 31-year-old resident suffered “significant” facial and shoulder injuries, according to a written release by Lt. Donald Foss.
The victim was taken by ambulance to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he was admitted.
No known weapons were used in the attack, Foss wrote.
The victim’s girlfriend, who was at home at the time of the attack, was not injured.
The suspect was described as being in his mid-20s to mid-30s, and approximately 6 feet, 2 to 4 inches tall. He had short brown hair and a neatly trimmed beard and mustache. He was wearing a long black trench coat.
Anyone with information about the attack is urged to call the Detectives Division at 207-774-1444, ext. 2173.
