FARMINGTON — Regional School Unit 9 directors unanimously agreed Tuesday night to appoint interim Mt. Blue High School Principal Bruce Mochamer as principal and coordinator of the Mt. Blue Campus, Superintendent Tom Ward said Thursday.

Mochamer will begin his new duties July 1, Ward said. A contract will be presented later.

“We were pleased with the pool of candidates and pleased with the decision,” Ward said.

The board’s Administrator Evaluation Committee began reviewing 10 applications for the position last year, but agreed in June that it was best to stop the search and go with an interim principal and coordinator.

At the time, the committee had invited all candidates to reactivate their applications when the panel resumed its search in December. Three people applied.

Mochamer, of Farmington, was named interim principal/coordinator after Monique Poulin left to become principal at Skowhegan Area High School in June 2014.

Mochamer was hired in 2013 as an assistant principal at the high school. The Lewiston native is a veteran educator and administrator with approximately 30 years experience.

He previously taught science at both Mt. Blue Middle School in Farmington and Skowhegan Area Middle School in Skowhegan. He served as assistant principal and principal at the Skowhegan school before taking the assistant principal position at Mt. Blue High School.
