Second question: I have Time Warner Cable and on channel 87 is METV-Portland. They mention in their program line up “The Andy Griffith Show” at 8 p.m. Well, we don’t get it. Instead it’s “Mayberry RFD.” I don’t have a computer to get the information. I believe the station is in with WPXT. Also, does this station have a program guide booklet that could be purchased? Thanks for all your help. Have a nice day. — S.R. in Lewiston.
ANSWER: Sun Spots hopes you read the column yesterday in which the locations of Dollar General stores in Lewiston and Auburn were listed.
MeTV Portland notes on its website: “The Andy Griffith Show is available in most MeTV markets. Other markets may get Mayberry R.F.D. in its place. Please check our online schedule or your local listings for information about your market.” So Sun Spots contacted MeTV and this was their response: “There is a conflict with Andy in your market, so we are airing alternate programming. We hope to air him in the future. Thank you.”
MeTV has a question-and-answer section that gives this information: “Why am I seeing a different program than what should be on right now? On rare occasions a program is changed or substituted by the Network, and these changes may not be reflected on your on-screen or printed guides. We do this in instances where the program rights belong to another broadcaster in your market.” The mailing address for MeTV is Me-TV Network, 26 N Halsted, Chicago, IL 60661. You can write to that address and ask for a printed guide.
Sun Spots then called Time Warner Cable at 1-800-892-4357 which is the number to call if you have additional questions about your cable line up. Press zero when the recorded message starts and your call will go to a real live operator. You can ask to have a channel line-up guide mailed to you.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am writing to you about the person wanting to know about the largest lakes of Maine. I had a great aunt named Daphne Winslow Merrill born in Rockland, Maine. She wrote a few books and one was “The Lakes of Maine” which was very interesting to people who are interested in our state. A lot of older pictures from all over Maine are included. The book tells of different sections of Maine and about the lakes. The book was copy righted in 1973 — second edition revised 1986. Maybe a library would have this book. Hope the person who was interested can find this book and enjoys it. Sincerely, K.S., So. Paris.
