FRYEBURG — Phyllis S. Dodge, 91, formerly of Kingfield, died early Friday, Feb. 13.
Phyllis was born on July 7, 1923, a daughter of Clyde and Ivy (Pinkham) Simmons. She grew up in Kingfield as one of five children, and received her education in local schools. Upon graduating from Kingfield High School, Phyllis went on to attend Maine General Nursing School, where she graduated and became a registered nurse.
Phyllis was a woman who appreciated nature’s beauty; she enjoyed spending time at her camp on Porter Lake as well as Tufts Pond, and was particularly fond of watching the loons and hummingbirds.
Phyllis attended local yard sales frequently, not only for the bargains, but simply to enjoy the social event. She enjoyed listening to stories of family and friends, especially the ones that made her laugh.
She is survived by her children, Harold Hutchins and his wife, Kathy, of Haverhill, Mass., Patricia Hutchins of Manchester, N.H., Myles Hutchins and his wife, Jane, of Vassalboro, Scott Hutchins and his wife, Judy, of Atkinson, N.H., and Tammy Rioux and her husband, Richard, of Boxford, Mass.; grandchildren, Hank Hutchins, Peter Hutchins, Thomas Hutchins, Kimberly Kelly, Melissa Page, Sean Hutchins, Meaghan Hutchins, Ryan Hutchins, Maria Hutchins-Cabibi, Taryn Finnessy, Nicholas Rioux, Ashley Rioux, Elizabeth Hutchins and Jarith Danskin; and great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Keenan, Eleanor, Audrey, Ana, Elizabeth and Eva.
She was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Milford Simmons, Ethelyn (Simmons) Dunham, Catherine (Simmons) Blumenberg and Milton Simmons.
