BUCKFIELD — Town officials hope to resubmit a wish list of amenities gutted from the plans of the $1 million Fire-Rescue Station under construction.
Selectmen on Tuesday evening voted to schedule a tentative walk-through of the station Wednesday, Feb. 25, to conduct a punch list of outstanding repairs the contractor must make. Contractors will provide the town with a list of outstanding tasks, much of which will involve exterior landscaping, that will be completed in the spring, Town Manager Cindy Dunn said.
Those fixes are considered part of the town’s contract with H.E. Callahan, Dunn said.
Selectmen said Feb. 3 that they would entertain a re-examination of a wish list of items stricken from the project, from a kitchen range to central air conditioning, carpet runners, a vestibule display case and an industrial ceiling fan in the truck bay. Together, the items tally $22,100.
“As it stands right now, we don’t even have money to buy rugs for people to walk on when they come into the building,” Dunn said.
She has proposed paying for those features with $18,000 in interest accrued on a $1 million loan secured and invested through Norway Savings Bank to finance the project.
The amenities were originally stricken from the project after bids came in above expectations and voters declined to borrow more money.
