LIVERMORE FALLS — The Regional School Unit 73 board voted 7-4 Thursday night to deny a grievance from a district employee.

The decision came after a two-hour executive session, which included Drummond and Woodsum lawyer Tom Trenholm, Spruce Mountain High School Principal T.J. Plourde, Superintendent Kenneth Healey and several members of the RSU 73 employees’ union.

Voting against the motion were board Chairwoman Denise Rodzen, Jackie Knight and Cindy Young, both of Livermore, and Tamara Hoke of Jay.

Healey said the matter came before the board because the grievance had been denied by the principal and the superintendent. He said the issue could go to arbitration.

The board voted overwhelmingly to offer the former Livermore Falls middle and high schools to the town. All but Young and Knight voted to make the offer.

Healey said he hand-delivered the decision to Town Manager Kristal Flagg on Friday.

In other matters, the position of Adult and Community Education director, formerly held by Eileen Miazga, is being advertised.

Miazga resigned in December 2014.

Administrative supervisor Wendy Moreau is filling the position temporarily.

The board also appointed Lindsey Jacques as middle school varsity Alpine ski coach and Alison Littlefield as an educational technician for the Crossroads alternative program.
