RUMFORD — This year the Rumford Historical Society would like to be included in the Bangor Savings Bank Foundation Community Matters More. Through that program, the Historical Society would be eligible to receive a grant of $1000 or more, depending on the number of votes it receives. Voting ends Feb. 28, with the winners to be announced in April.

Only one vote per person is allowed and votes can be made directly at the Bangor Savings Bank; online through the website, www.bangor.com/Community-Support/Community-Matters-More.aspx or a ballot can be mailed to the Bangor Savings Bank.

In the event that the Historical Society receives the grant, there are three projects under discussion that might be funded: construction of a handicap ramp at Lufkin Museum in Rumford Center; installation of a waterproof covering for the valuable paper documents at the archives offices, located in the Town Hall (in case of sprinkler system activation); and digitization of the Society’s photographs for perpetuity.
