BOSTON — Sam Clark has always been a fan of football and especially the New England Patriots.

But because of a weakened heart, Clark could not play the sport. He helped out the Camden Hills football team two years ago by providing water and keeping statistics.

On Dec. 14, Clark received a new heart at Boston Children’s Hospital.

He was back at the hospital Friday for a test.

While there, New England Patriots player Malcolm Butler, who helped the team win Super Bowl 49 by intercepting a pass at the goal-line, stopped by the hospital to visit the young patients. Butler stopped by to talk with Clark.

Clark’s father Russ Clark said his son was thrilled by the visit.

An email sent to the Clarks from the teen’s cardiac specialist Dr. Christina VanderPluym supported that assessment.

“Sam did amazing today. He was beaming, and I think he would make a great sport commentator in the future,” Dr. VanderPluym said.

WBZ television filmed a segment of the visit, which was broadcast Friday. In that segment, Sam Clark said the visit was a “ton of fun.”
