AUGUSTA — Utility officials are urging residents to be careful around power lines when clearing snow this winter.
Central Maine Power Co. warns that things like ladders, roof rakes and bucket loaders that conduct electricity can become extremely dangerous when they come in contact with a power line. The company says that someone can experience a serious injury, or even death, by touching a piece of equipment or tool that’s touching a power line.
Officials say to always check for electric cables and ensure there’s at least 10 feet between yourself and a power line. They’re also urging residents not to touch a bucket loader, dump truck or other tools that are operating near power lines.
