NORWAY — Carey H. McLendon, 77, of South Paris passed away Thursday, Feb. 5, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Atlanta, Ga., on Oct. 1, 1937, the daughter of Irvin O. and Frances Shiver Hagan. She was an alumni of Sylvan High School and attended Bessie Tift College.
She married James A. McLendon on Dec. 11, 1973.
Carey had been employed as a travel agent for Travel Wise Tours in South Paris and Dube Travel in Lewiston.
She enjoyed painting and was a member of various art clubs in Maine and Florida. She was very active with her church.
Carey was known as “Mimi” by her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of South Paris; son, Andrew Thomas and his wife, Kimberlie, of Jamestown, Ind., and grandchildren, Noah Andrew and Sarah Marie; daughter, Betsy Rivero and husband, Orlando, of Davenport, Fla., and grandchildren, James Lee, Christopher Mark and Lauren Elizabeth; son, James Stanley and his companion, Elyssa, of Hartford and grandchildren, Kyle, Alec and Dustin; daughter-in-law, Pamela McLendon of South Paris; son, Thomas Andrew and his partner, Louis Page, of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Avery Colby McLendon and Charlie Bell Sims; a sister, Doris Elaine of Inverness, Fla.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Colby McLendon.
