FARMINGTON — A convicted sex offender was found guilty Friday of sexually abusing two more children younger than 14 in Franklin County.

Lloyd N. Gilbert, 67, of Canaan pleaded guilty in a Farmington court to a felony charge of unlawful sexual contact and a misdemeanor charge of unlawful sexual touching.

He was sentenced to 10 years in prison with all but nine months suspended on the sexual contact charge, according to court documents. Upon his release, he will be on 12 years of probation.

He was sentenced to nine months on the sexual touching conviction, to be served at the same time as the felony sentence, according to court documents.

The sexual contact occurred on July 31, 2004, and the sexual touching on Oct. 7, 2012. He was arrested on a warrant on April 23, 2014.

He is prohibited from having contact with children under the age of 16 without having an adult or supervisor watching him.

Gilbert is a lifetime sex offender registrant who must comply with the Maine Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act.

Gilbert lived in Franklin County about a decade ago. He was convicted on March 4, 2005, on a felony charge of unlawful sexual contact with a Franklin County child younger than 14 years old. The violations occurred between June 18, 2000, and June 18, 2001, according to Sun Journal archives.

He was sentenced in that case to 18 months in prison with all but 30 days suspended. When he was released, he was on probation for three years. He was also required to register with the state as a sex offender.
