Oak Hill 53, Lisbon 44
WALES — Junior point guard Dalton Therrien poured in 14 points to lead Oak Hill to a 53-44 triumph over Lisbon in MVC boys’ basketball Tuesday.
The Raiders (4-13) battled fiercely in the second and fourth quarters to gain some distance. Jonah Martin contributed 12 points for Oak Hill.
Senior forward Johnny Yim posted a team-leading 14 points for Lisbon. Josh Huston added 11 points for the Greyhounds (5-12).
Hampden 63, Mt. Blue 48
FARMINGTON — Senior guard Brendan McIntyre drained a game-high 21 points as Hampden hammered out a 63-48 victory over Mt. Blue in KVAC boys’ basketball Tuesday.
The Cougars (1-15) put up a solid defensive effort but struggled offensively over the first three periods. Senior center Brad Durrell and sophomore guard Zack Mittelstadt recorded 13 points each for Mt. Blue.
The Broncos (15-2) led 29-16 at the half. Nick Gilpin contributed with 13 points for Hampden.
Telstar 61, Monmouth 58
BETHEL — Senior center Michael Dougherty notched 14 points and 13 rebounds and Telstar held on for a 61-58 MVC victory over Monmouth in boys’ basketball Tuesday.
The Rebels (6-10) started strong in the first quarter and took a 31-22 lead into the half. Senior Zac Wheeler played a strong defense and prevented Monmouth’s fiery fourth quarter from undoing Telstar’s win.
Guard Luke Thombs tossed a game-high 20 points for the Mustangs, including five field goals from 3-point range. Monmouth made up 11 points on a 26-15 run in the fourth quarter.
St. Dom’s 49, Mountain Valley 37
RUMFORD — Becket Wagner compiled 21 points to lead St. Dom’s to a 49-37 victory over Mountain Valley in MVC boys’ basketball Tuesday.
Mike Bryant provided 18 points for the Saints. Caleb Gauvin led the Falcons (7-9) with 11 points.
Brunswick 43, Oxford Hills 40
PARIS — J.D. Souza scored the game-winning points at the free-throw line in the final minute of the game as Brunswick slipped past Oxford Hills 43-40 in KVAC boys’ basketball.
The Vikings (9-8) took the lead in the final minute on a steal and a dunk by Andrew Fleming to make it 40-39, but the Dragons ran out most of the clock and then went to the line after Souza was fouled.
Alex Bandouveres, who led Brunswick (8-8) with 11 points, added two more points for insurance on a breakaway. Fleming finished the game with 12 points and 10 rebounds for Oxford Hills. Tyus Ripley had 14 points.
Dirigo 99, Mt. Abram 39
SALEM — The Cougars put on a 3-point-shooting clinic throughout the game, connecting on 14 shots from out deep to run past Mt. Abram 99-39 in MVC boys’ basketball.
Riley Robinson scored 25 points in the victory, including six 3-pointers, and Cooper Chiasson had 24 for Dirigo (15-2). Dan Luce led the Roadrunners (3-14) with 10 points, and Tristan Dyer added nine.
Lewiston 37, Mt. Ararat 34
LEWISTON – Ryan Bell went 4-for-4 at the free-throw line in the final minute to get Lewiston over the top in a tight 37-34 KVAC boys’ basketball win over Mt. Ararat.
Isaiah Harris had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Blue Devils (11-6). Bell finished the game with nine points.
Shy Ulrickson led all scorers with 16 points for the Eagles (5-11). Mason Griffin added eight points.
Madison 77, Wiscasset 45
MADISON — Derek Leblanc scored a game-high 20 points to lead Madison to a 77-45 victory over Wiscasset.
Mark Linkletter added 12 points, including three 3-pointers, and Ty Cowan had 10 more for the Bulldogs (14-3). Ethan James had 15 points for Wiscasset (4-13).
Vinalhaven 60, Rangeley 59
RANGELEY —The Rangeley Lakers missed two potential game-winning shots at the end of the game and fell to Vinalhaven, 60-59, in an EWC boys’ basketball contest.
Cody Hamilton paced the Vikings (8-6) with 18 points. Keon Arey had 12 points, Max Stanley with 11 and Noah Slivinsky had 10
Ricky Thompson had a double-double for the Lakers (5-11) with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Timmy White had 19 points, while Kyle Larochelle added 10 points.
Girls’ basketball
Lake Region 46, Poland 44
POLAND — Kristen Huntress hit a 3-pointer with 13.5 seconds left for the winning points as Lake Region tipped Poland 46-44 in WMC girls’ basketball Tuesday.
Lauren Jacobs had 12 points to lead the Lakers, while Huntress and CeCe Hancock joined her in double digits with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Knights had three shots at a win or a tie in the final seconds but were unable to convert. Michaella Arsenault led all scorers in the game with 16 points for Poland. Hope Kohtala added 10 points.
Edward Little 74, Cony 11
AUBURN — Edward Little used a 31-2 run in the second quarter, sparked by six of the team’s 11 3-pointers in the game, to run away with a 74-11 KVAC girls’ basketball win over Cony.
Eraleena Hairston scored 16 points to lead EL (13-4). Piper Norcross chipped in 12 points. Emily Jacques had 11.
Dirigo 60, Mt. Abram 20
SALEM — Jessica Conant dropped in a game-high 17 points as Dirigo cruised to a 60-20 MVC girls’ basketball victory over Mt. Abram.
Lauren Henderson added 15 points for the Cougars (15-2). Olivia Ryan scored six points to lead the Roadrunners (2-15).
Mountain Valley 49, St. Dom’s 11
RUMFORD — Liza White scored 10 points and Ashley Russell added eight points as Mountain Valley downed St. Dom’s, 49-11, in MVC girls’ basketball.
Adelle Oswald had four steals on Senior Night for the Falcons (11-5). Allie Veinotte hit a pair of 3-pointers to lead the Saints (6-11) with six points.
Gray-New Gloucester 43, Yarmouth 27
YARMOUTH — Senior forward Maria Valente recorded a team-leading 12 points in a balanced attack as Gray-New Gloucester dispatched Yarmouth 43-27 in WMC girls’ basketball Tuesday.
The Patriots (16-1) applied full court pressure in the third quarter to extend a six-point halftime lead. Sophomore center Skye Conley contributed nine points for Gray-New Gloucester.
Sophomore guard Cory Langenbach tossed i a game-high 14 points for the Clippers (6-11).
Mt. Blue 44, Hampden 22
FARMINGTON — Addie Brinkman netted a game-high 10 points as Mt. Blue doubled up Hampden 44-22 in KVAC girls’ basketball Tuesday.
The Cougars (11-6) led 18-13 at the half but turned up the tempo in the fourt quarter. Caitlin Kane contributed nine points for Mt. Blue.
Daija Misler paced the Broncos (8-9) with eight points to go along with eight rebounds.
Oak Hill 62, Lisbon 24
WALES — Senior forward Kayla Veilleux tossed in a game-high 13 points as Oak Hill catapulted to a 62-24 victory over Lisbon in MVC girls’ basketball Tuesday.
The Raiders (11-6) took a pair of 17-6 opening quarters for a 34-12 halftime lead. Sophomore guard Bri Mulherin contributed 11 points.
Mia Durgin and Mikayla Yanez recorded seven and six points, respectively, for Lisbon.
Leavitt 52, MCI 49
TURNER — Freshman forward Sophia Gilbert scored 27 points and hauled down 11 rebounds to lead Leavitt to a 52-49 victory over Maine Central Institute in girls’ basektball Tuesday.
The Hornets (7-10) overcame a 10-point halftime deficit with a 23-10 run in the third quarter. Gilbert led the charge for Leavitt, scoring 14 points in the frame.
Freshman guard April McAlpine led the Huskies (5-11) with 18 points.
Oxford Hills 35, Brunswick 28
BRUNSWICK — Anna Winslow and Tianna Sugars each scored 10 points to lead Oxford Hills to a 35-28 victory over Brunswick in KVAC girls’ basketball Tuesday.
The Vikings led by just one point at intermission. Julia Champagne netted a game-high 13 points for the Dragons.
Rangeley 63, Vinalhaven 37
RANGELEY — Seve Deery-DeRaps had a game-high 22 points as Rangeley cruised past Vinalhaven 63-37 in an EWC girls’ basketball game.
Taylor Esty had 18 points, nine rebounds and five steals for the Lakers (16-0). Blayke Morin chipped in six points and seven rebounds. Gilleyanne Davis-Oakes led the Vikings (6-8) with 10 points. Paige Dennison dropped in nine points.
Unified basketball
Lisbon 52, Leavitt 11
TURNER — Jake Patenaude collected 19 points to lead Lisbon to a 52-11 victory over Leavitt in unified basketball Tuesday.
The Greyhounds took a 24-7 halftime lead. Robert Wood and Amanda Mason recorded 12 and 10 points, respectively, for Lisbon. Top scorer for the Hornets was Sam Gagnon with five points.
Poland 24, Greely 16
POLAND — Poland picked up an opening night win in unified baketball, 24-16 over Greely.
Aleck Burnell led the way for the Knights with eight points. David Ellington chipped in six. Tyler Cane had eight points for Greely, while John Nadeau pitched in six points.
Women’s basketball
CMCC 87, EMCC 47
AUBURN — Central Maine Community College rolled over Eastern Maine Community College 87-47 on Tuesday.
Laura Soohey had 15 points to go with 10 rebounds and four steals, while Kat Styles scored 14 points and grabbed 10 boards after coming in off the bench. Gabby Foy of Wilton also had 14 points for the Mustangs (15-4).
Morgan Card had 14 points and 11 rebounds for EMCC.
Men’s basketball
Bates 77, UMaine-Farmington 64
LEWISTON — Bates improved to 10-0 at home with a 77-64 non-conference victory over UMF in men’s basketball.
Mike Boornazian had 26 points for the Bobcats (15-4), who won their fourth game in a row. Marcus Delpeche was perfect on the night from the field and at the line, scoring 16 points to go with seven rebounds.
Uriah Forest-Bulley had 20 points and eight boards for the Beavers (4-15), and Ryan Camire chipped in with 11 points.
