JAY — Members of the Good Neighbor Fuel Fund held their annual Christmas party on Dec. 15 at the home of Roland and Bonnie Samson.
Everyone enjoyed a delicious meal of spaghetti and meatballs, along with all the sides and desserts at a beautifully decorated table.
A fun evening was enjoyed by all.
Louis and Louise Chabot shared good news of recent donations: $5,0000 from the Harold P. Dudley Foundation of Maine Community Foundation in Ellsworth; proceeds totaling $1,519 from “Fuel Up Sunday,” held at St. Rose Church in early December; and additional donations of $2,874 from donation request letters mailed out in December.
Judy Frost of the Community Action Group in Wilton, who dispenses the funds, stated that the fuel situation as of the first of December was “very scary.”
The nonprofit Good Neighbor fund expended over $10,000 in November and additional funds were made available in December.
The Good Neighbor Fuel Fund is available to residents in the tri-town area even if they do not meet the federal guidelines for heating programs.
These funds are intended for emergency assistance for individuals waiting for unemployment or who may be experiencing other financial difficulties.
