AUGUSTA – Maine Gov. Paul LePage urged residents to stay off the roads and hunker down Tuesday as winter storm Juno whipped across the state causing blizzard conditions and flooding along the coastline.
LePage also announced all state offices would be closed Tuesday.
LePage made the official declaration at about 4:30 a.m.
Many schools and businesses had already decided to close on Tuesday and many cities and towns have banned on-street parking for the duration of the storm.
“The amount of snow and the high winds, along with blowing and drifting snow, makes this storm dangerous for many Mainers,” LePage said in a prepared statement.“We want everyone to stay off the roads and stay safe.”
