PARIS — Police said an Oxford resident is charged with pushing a man from a moving vehicle Saturday.
Jason J. Annance, 37, made an initial appearance in District Court on Monday afternoon on a charge of felony aggravated assault.
According to an affidavit by Oxford County Sheriff’s Deputy Justin Brown, Annance and a 23-year-old man were traveling along Oxford Road in Hebron toward their place of work when Annance asked for the man’s cellphone, threw it out a window, punched his face and opened the door and pushed him out of the moving vehicle.
The affidavit did not indicate why the incident occurred.
The victim flagged down a passing motorist for aid, and was later transported to an unnamed hospital for a concussion and facial lacerations which would require surgery, the document said.
It was not known how fast the vehicle was traveling, the affidavit said.
Annance, according to Brown, denied any involvement.
Annance did not enter a plea Monday and is scheduled to appear in Oxford County Superior Court on May 5. If convicted, the Class B felony carries a maximum prison sentence of 10 years.
Bail was set at $500 cash. Annance has prior convictions on misdemeanor criminal mischief and theft counts, according to state records.
