BRUNSWICK, MAINE – “Sister Act” has been announced as the second show of the 57th season at Maine State Music Theatre. The show will run from June 24-July 11 at Pickard Theater, at 1 Bath Road on the Bowdoin College campus.

Prior to this announcement the identity of the show was kept under wraps due to a licensing agreement.

“Sister Act combines heart and joy to create musical theatre magic on stage,” said Artistic Director Curt Dale Clark. “The performances will knock your socks off.”

“Sister Ac”t is the feel-amazing musical comedy smash based on the hit 1992 film that has audiences jumping to their feet. Featuring original music by Tony- and eight-time-Oscar winner Alan Menken (“Newsies,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Little Shop of Horrors”), this uplifting musical was nominated for five Tony awards including Best Musical.

Filled with uplifting gospel music, outrageous comedy and dancing, and a moving story, “Sister Act” will leave audiences breathless, a sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship.

The announcement of “Sister Act” completes MSMT’s four-show “Season of Smiles.” The 2015 summer kicks off June 3-20 with the heartwarming comedy, “The Full Monty.” July 15-Aug. 1 promises fantastic family fun with “The Music Man.” Finally, the summer rounds out with Mel Brooks’ hilarious “Young Frankenstein” from Aug.5-22.
