WISCASSET — Becket Wagner netted a game-high 20 points Thursday as St. Dom’s held onto a narrow 49-48 win over Wiscasset in a mid-season MVC boys’ tilt.
Mike Bryant chipped in for the Saints with 14 points, highlighted by two shots from beyond the arc.
The Wolverines were paced by Brandon Sprague with a solid 14-point effort, while Ethan James chipped in with nine.
Monmouth 38, Lisbon 35
LISBON — Luke Thombs poured 15 points into the net Thursday as Monmouth snuck past Lisbon, 38-35, in a MVC boys’ matchup.
The Mustangs (7-5) used a 12-3 run in the second frame to gain a small edge. Nick Menice chipped in for Monmouth with 11 points, the only other player in double digits.
The Greyhounds (3-10) were led by Johnny Yim and Josh Huston with nine points apiece.
Girls’ basketball
Mt. Blue 54, Skowhegan 21
FARMINGTON — Caitlin Kane lit the boards for 18 points Thursday to propel Mt. Blue to a 54-21 rout over Skowhegan in a KVAC girls’ basketball tilt.
Eryn Doiron chipped in for the Cougars (8-4) with 10 points in a balanced attack.
Skowhegan (2-10) was paced by Eliza Bedard with a solid 11-point effort, their only player in double figures.
Hall-Dale 61, Telstar 35
FARMINGDALE — After building a 16-point advantage in the first half, Hall-Dale easily raced away to post a 61-35 romp over Telstar in MVC girls’ basketball action Thursday.
Dani Sweet led the Bulldogs (7-3) with 18 points, while Nicole Pelletier chipped in with 14.
The winless Rebels (0-10) were paced by Becca Howard with a game-high 21 point performance, while Haylee Peterson added 11.
Girls’ hockey
Gorham/Bonny Eagle 6, St. Dom’s 4
AUBURN — Despite a late two-goal rally in the final period by St. Dom’s, Gorham/Bonny Eagle held on to post a 6-4 victory in girls’ hockey action Thursday.
Callie Samson put the Saints (5-8) up 1-0 just over a minute into the contest before Charlote Smith knotted it up for Gorham/Bonny Eagle (8-5) at the 10:40 mark. Ally Rullo ignited a three-goal flurry in the second stanza for Gorham/Bonny Eagle, with Kenzie Collins and Smith also finding the net. Evelyn Turnbaugh also contributed for Gorham with a pair of third-period goals.
Tia Rotolico and Kyan Johnson also tallied for St. Dom’s in that late-game surge. Allie Johnson handled netminding chores for Gorham/Bonny Eagle, while Payton Winslow worked between the pipes for St. Dom’s.
Leavitt/EL/Poland 5, Mt. Ararat 1
BRUNSWICK — Abby Roy led a three-goal explosion in the second frame as Leavitt/Edward Little/Poland skated to a 5-1 victory over Mt. Ararat in a girls’ hockey tilt Thursday.
Kylie Bureau and Emma Martineau also tallied for the Red Hornets (11-2-1) in that key second period.
Danica Nadeau and Haley Frohlich found the net in the third frame to complete the scoring.
Mikayla Cloutier scored for the Eagles at the 1:35 mark of the third.
Tori Sanford made two saves for the Red Hornets, while Alison Nolan deflected 29 shots between the pipes for Mt. Ararat.
