OQUOSSOC — On Friday, Feb. 6, the Rangeley World Record Snowmobile Ride for Cystic Fibrosis kicks off its fundraising weekend with a charity auction at The Gingerbread House in Oquossoc.

The auction will include items from local artists, executive chefs, guides and sportsman, ski areas, boat rentals, an artist-painted snowmobile helmet promoting the cystic fibrosis cause, gift certificates and products from all over New England.

On Saturday, Feb. 7, the Rangeley World Record Snowmobile Ride for Cystic Fibrosis festivities start at 11 a.m. at Bald Mountain Camps in Oquossoc.

Numbers have doubled in the first two years of the event. One-hundred and sixty-seven snowmobilers faced one of the worst blizzards New England had seen in recent history. In 2014 numbers were doubled both in revenue raised and snowmobilers riding. Last year’s event raised $22,000 and had 385 snowmobiles riding for a new world record.

The goal is to beat Minnesota and break a world record in Maine.

The ride starts in Oquossoc and travels to Rangeley. Ride entry is a $10 decal donation and includes events all day and a huge fireworks show after dark.
