PARIS — A Dixfield man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to felony aggravated assault charges stemming from a four-vehicle crash in Dixfield last year.

Douglas Kubesh, 58, appeared for an arraignment on a five-count indictment in Oxford County Superior Court. He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of driving to endanger and one count of aggravated criminal mischief in a December 2013 pileup on Route 2 in Dixfield that sent one man to the hospital

Kubesh was indicted by a grand jury in October.

He has been released on personal recognizance bail and can have no contact with the victims. The maximum sentence of the combined charges is up to 35 years in prison. He is scheduled to appear in court again March 3.

According to Sun Journal records, Kubesh was driving east on Route 2 in a 2009 Hyundai when he pulled out to pass a 1984 GMC pulp truck and other vehicles on a blind corner.

He reportedly sideswiped two westbound vehicles that collided, a 2009 Volvo driven by Lawrence Parker, 45, of New Sharon and a 1995 Dodge pickup truck driven by Melinda Given, 43, of Farmington. Parker was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Both cars reportedly were totaled.
