1947 – 2014

AUBURN — William H. Wheeler, 67, of Monmouth, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, at the Hospice House in Auburn surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Nov. 27, 1947, the son of Paul P. and Francis Maxine (Crooker) Wheeler. William attended school in Auburn and Woodriver Junction, R.I.

He was the owner of A-O-S Inc. (Air-O-Structures) in Monmouth until 1998.

William was an avid lover of the fine arts, live music, animals and vacationing in Saint Martin. He also loved a good, in-depth conversation and was very well-spoken. Much of his life was spent collecting and selling antiques.

Although he was a very private man, he was deeply compassionate and was very giving to those in need without any expectation of return. Above all else, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and good friend.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon (Smith) Wheeler, of Monmouth; his daughter, Laura and her husband, Richard; his three beloved grandchildren, Thaddeus, Bradley and Jordan; his brother, Allen Wheeler and his wife, Jane; Paul and Pat Wheeler and family; Thomas and Jessica Wheeler and their family; his family in Colorado, William and Lynda Wheeler; his family in Rhode Island, Winifred Wright (mother-in-law), Yvonne Crooker (aunt), Dorothy Woods (aunt), Stephen Smith, David Smith, Stacey and Cliff Minakin, Carlton and Elizabeth Wright, Gordon and Lynda Wright, Jeff and Bonnie Wright, Dennis Wright, Marcia and Don Carsten, Diane and Calvin Herman, Linda Carlow, Jon and Beth Crooker, Mike and Cindy Crooker, Mary Crooker, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, Paul P. Wheeler; and his mother, Frances Maxine (Crooker) Wheeler; Francis and Agnes Wheeler; William Howard Crooker (uncle), Floyd Wheeler and Joyce Wright; and his cousins, James and William Crooker.
