Senior luncheon postponed

OXFORD — Anderson Staples Post 112 is postponing their senior luncheon scheduled on Dec. 23 due to the fact that The American Red Cross will be doing a blood drive on that day. If you are able to attend the blood drive, Post 112 would be grateful.

The luncheon will be held at noon Tuesday, Dec. 30, at the Post home.

‘Blue Christmas’ service is Dec. 18

RUMFORD — “When the Holidays Hurt: A Service of Hope and Healing,” will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at St. Barnabas Church, 71 Rumford Ave., the stone church near the rotary.

This ecumenical “Blue Christmas” service is offered in collaboration with the local Episcopal Church, United Methodist Church and the United Church of Christ.

College planning workshop is Dec. 18

WILTON — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will hold a free workshop, “Essentials of College Planning,” for adults 19 and over at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at Wilton Career Center, 865 US Route 2E.

The starting point for all MEOC participants is The Essentials of College Planning, a free interactive workshop that outlines the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career planning and study skills.

The workshop lasts approximately two to three hours. Pre-registration is required.

All MEOC services are free. They include GED/SAT preparation, college planning, referrals/advocacy, career advising, financial aid advising, college admissions process and applications for fee waivers for qualified adults.

Supper at American Legion planned

LIVERMORE FALLS — George Bunten Post 10, American Legion, will hold a supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, at the hall at 17 Reynolds Ave.

Cost for adults is $7; kids under 12, $4. Menu includes homemade baked beans, red hot dogs, biscuits, fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, assorted casseroles and vegetables, desserts and coffee.

Finnish American Society to meet

RUMFORD — Rumford American Legion Post 24 will have a New Year’s Eve Dance with a late night buffet on Wednesday, Dec. 31.

The band Roadhouse will help bring in the new year.

Doors open at 7 p.m. The band will play from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Tickets are on sale at the Post for $15 per person.
