ARLINGTON, Va. — Thousands of Maine-made wreaths are due to be placed on headstones at Arlington National Cemetery.
This is the 100th anniversary of Arlington National Cemetery, and Wreaths Across America is aiming to have a wreath for every headstone — more than 200,000 of them.
Hundreds of volunteers were to place the wreaths on headstones on Saturday.
The wreaths arrived via a convoy from Maine. The truckloads of wreaths were escorted by Patriot Guard Riders when they left Worcester Wreath Co. last weekend. One of the riders was Maine First Lady Ann LePage, who made the entire trip on the back of a three-wheeled motorcycle.
