Maine authors to hold book signing at Books N Things

Award-winning children’s book authors will keep it local on Dec. 13

NORWAY — On Saturday, Dec. 13, as part of the Shop Local/Shop Norway festival, Books N Things will host award-winning children’s book authors Cynthia Lord and Tamra Wight, as well as Gary Urey.

Wight and Lord will sign books from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Urey will sign his books from 2-4 p.m.

Wight, who lives in Poland and owns and operates the Poland Spring Campground, is the author of “Mystery of the Eagle’s Nest” and “Mystery on Pine Lake,” the first two titles in the Cooper and Packrat series of middle-grade eco-adventure stories set at a campground (published by Islandport Press of Yarmouth). Every summer, at the campground, she meets interesting families from all over the world, and this helps inspire her to write the Cooper and Packrat books. During the school year, she works as a teaching assistant at Whittier Middle School in Poland. She is also the author of “The Three Grumpies,” illustrated by Ross Collins. The third Cooper and Packrat adventure, “Mystery of the Missing Fox,” is due out in spring 2016.

Award-winning Maine author Lord is a former elementary and middle-school teacher and the children’s book author of the 2007 Newbery Honor book “Rules,” “Touch Blue,” and her newest novel, “Half a Chance.” She is also the author of the Hot Rod Hamster series, illustrated by Derek Anderson, and the Shelter Pet Squad series, all published by Scholastic. She lives in Brunswick, Maine.

Urey is the author of “Super Schnoz and the Gates of Smell,” as well as “Super Schnoz and the Invasion of the Snore Snatchers.”
