DIXFIELD – Discussion on the upcoming chief of police vacancy will continue during the Monday, Dec. 8, board meeting.
The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Ludden Memorial Library.
Chief Richard A. Pickett is set to retire in late January or early February.
Town Manager Carlo Puiia said that when Pickett first announced his retirement, the board agreed to contact the Maine Chiefs of Police Association to ask about the process to find a new police chief.
Selectmen later decided to sit in on a joint Mexico and Rumford selectmen meeting on Nov. 24 to hear proposals for Oxford County Sheriff’s Office coverage and disbanding Mexico and Rumford police departments, or merging the two police departments.
The following day, Mexico police Chief Roy Hodsdon visited Dixfield’s Board of Selectmen meeting to hear a proposal about allowing Hodsdon to serve as police chief for Mexico and Dixfield.
The selectmen will continue to discuss their options during Monday’s selectmen’s meeting.
The board will also hold executive sessions on the following issues:
* Labor negotiations.
* Discussion of confidential records.
* Personnel matter.
