SCARBOROUGH (AP) — Maine’s first lady is once again participating in a convoy of Maine-made wreaths that are on their way to Arlington National Cemetery.
Despite the December weather, Ann LePage is riding on an open three-wheeled cycle with the Patriot Guard Riders, who are escorting the truckloads of wreaths.
The convoy, which left Worcester Wreath Co. on Sunday, is making a series of stops that will continue Monday between Scarborough and Topsfield, Mass., as the convoy traveled south.
Wreaths Across America is aiming to have a wreath for every headstone — more than 200,000 of them — for the 100th anniversary of Arlington National Cemetery. All told, Wreaths Across America expects to exceed last year’s shipments of 540,000 wreaths to adorn veterans’ graves in 50 states and overseas.
