DIXFIELD — The Dirigo Wellness Center will hold a Christmas-themed fun run and open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, wellness center attendant Judy Horne said Thursday.

The center is always looking for unique ways to get people interested in what they have to offer, she said. In October, it hosted a Color Me Healthy 5K, influenced by the nationally renowned Color Me Rad 5K, at which participants were sprayed with a substance made of corn starch and food coloring.

“We all sit down from time to time, and we decided that we had to do things a little different to get some interest,” Horne said. “Earlier this year, we saw color runs being advertised on the Internet, and we decided to do one ourselves.”

The Christmas-themed fun run is called the Jingle All The Way Run. Participants are asked to dress in Christmas attire.

“All people who sign up will be given jingle bells to attach to their clothes,” Horne said. “The first 25 adults who register will receive a holiday headband to wear while running.”

The run is noncompetitive, Horne said, and will follow a similar route to the Color Me Healthy 5K.

“The Color Me Healthy 5K went through the woods, so obviously, we won’t be including that section in the upcoming run,” she said.

Following the run, participants will be invited to the center for an open house.

“We’re going to have water and some healthy food to give out,” Horne said.

Adults can preregister at www.active.com or at the center for $20, or $25 on the day of the event.
