EUSTIS – Extreme winds and road conditions were factors when a tractor-trailer truck struck a utility pole and damaged a second pole Thursday morning on Route 27, Franklin County Sheriff’s Department representatives said.
The driver, Jacques Veilleux of Quebec, was not injured, Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said. Veilleux works for Loignon Champ-Carr Inc. of Quebec.
The 2009 Western Star truck was headed north when it went into a ditch. A Central Maine Power Co. pole had to be replaced, he said.
A tow truck from Collins Enterprises in Wilton pulled the rig, which was not damaged, from the ditch.
Eustis Fire Department, NorthStar EMS ambulance and CMP responded to the accident.
