LEWISTON — The Lewiston Public Library on Lisbon St. will continue its Pages & Pints book talk and beer tasting series with Maine culture writer Jim Baumer at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5. The free public event will open in the Library’s Callahan Hall with Baumer speaking about Moxie, books, beer, and Maine life.
The evening will then continue with a tour of Baxter Brewing Co. at 130 Mill St. followed by a reception and beer tasting. Forage Market will provide cheese pairings with the Baxter brews.
Baumer is an award-winning, Maine-based writer, whose books include “Moxie: Maine in a Bottle” (published by Down East Books, 2012), and “When Towns Had Teams” (RiverVision Press, 2005). Both have become quintessential reads, providing snapshots of Maine and its unique culture. He has recently released a book of essays, “The Perfect Number: Essays & Stories Vol. 1.”
Baumer grew up in Lisbon Falls, where many of the essays and stories in this new collection are rooted. In addition to his books, Baumer is also a small press publisher, founding RiverVision Press, “Maine’s Unique Small Press,” in 2004. Additionally, he is a freelance writer and has written for the Lewiston Sun Journal, the Bangor Daily News, the Boston Globe, and the Portland Phoenix.
